'I know that a number of affected families have been asking for this for many years'

Donna Ockenden has released a statement after Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that an investigation is being launched into maternity services at the Nottingham University Hospital Trust hospitals. Following a meeting between Chief Constable Kate Meynell and senior midwife Donna Ockenden, the investigation was announced by Nottinghamshire Police on Thursday, September 7.

This investigation comes as Ms Ockenden is chairing an inquiry into cases of baby deaths and injuries which occurred across Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. It is understood that at least 1,800 are part of the review, which is the largest to be carried out of its kind in this country.
