Can Doncaster Sheffield Airport be saved? Local leaders believe so.
South Yorkshire mayor Oliver Coppard has pledged £3.1m to help Doncaster Council launch legal action to force the sale of Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
Mr Coppard said the funding would help the council build a case for a compulsory purchase order , which would force Peel to sell the site."The CPO could take up to two years, and there are loads of hurdles in the way, but across South Yorkshire we are determined to do everything we can to bring DSA back into use, and to make it the thriving regional airport we know it can be."
"We are confident that Doncaster Sheffield Airport can be a major economic driver for the region," said Ros Jones, Doncaster's mayor.
