Trump previously travelled to Georgia to turn himself in at the Fulton County Jail, where he became the first former president to have a mugshot taken
Former US president Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty and said he will skip a hearing next week in the case accusing him and others of illegally trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
Georgia courts have fairly permissive rules on news cameras in the courtroom, and this step means Mr Trump will not have to enter a plea on television. Mr Trump previously travelled to Georgia on August 24 to turn himself in at the Fulton County Jail, where he became the first former president to have a mugshot taken.
The judge has set an October 23 trial date for one of them, Kenneth Chesebro, a lawyer who worked on the co-ordination and execution of a plan to have 16 Georgia Republicans sign a certificate falsely stating that Mr Trump won the state and declaring themselves the state’s “duly elected and qualified” electors.
