Attendees at DogFest in Harewood House spoke out about the Government action
Dog owners have hit out at “unfair” Government plans to ban the American XL Bully Dogs with concerns for their “worried” families.
Dog owners at DogFest opened up about their grave concerns for the Government action and the breed. Tattoo artist Lucy Cassap, 24, from Sunderland, owns a springer spaniel and a Doberman. “It’s going to put more strain on big dog owners, and people are scared of big dogs anyway. When a big dog gets banned, it makes people more scared of other big dog breeds. The small dogs which have the most behavioural issues, it’s looked past because they’re small.
Victoria said: “I think they [the government] need to look at why the dogs behave like that. If you look at statistics, more people die at the hands of humans every year than they do with dogs, and we don’t put humans down, do we? 'XL Bully owners are petrified' Retired secretary Diane Foo, who owns a Boston Terrier, said: “I think it’s the owners that need to be addressed, rather than the dogs. I absolutely think that any dog could be good or bad depending on who owns them.
