Experts have had their say on patches which claim to help boost metabolism and maximise weight loss

Doctors have warned against the use of 'weight loss' patches for dieters, stressing there is very little evidence to suggest they actually work. The weight loss industry is continuously booming, with diet fads coming and going while others linger and promise quick results.

As reported by Women's Health, the stickers are applied to your skin and are meant to work transdermally, which means the active ingredients go directly into the skin, bypassing your digestive system. Common ingredients some patches have include green tea extract, CBD, green coffee bean extract, mint and Ashwagandha.

The expert added that at the end of the day, the patches will not work to help you slim down quickly. Dr Seltzer explains that the main reason people tend to be optimistic about these patches is because of all the claims out there about "trendy ingredients".
