Search and rescue teams have been at the scene for nearly 24 hours
Emergency services were scrambled to Marine Lake in Waterloo at around 4.50pm on Friday after reports of concern for safety of a man. Police, fire crews, search and rescue, and an air ambulance and coastguard helicopter rushed to the scene yesterday evening.
Road closures remain in place around the lake including Marine Crescent and Great Georges Road. A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "Emergency services remain at the Marine Lake, in Waterloo, this morning following a concern for safety of a man first reported yesterday afternoon, Friday, August 11.
Commenting their concern, one ECHO reader said: "It’s disgusting the lack of lifeguards. My boyfriend was the first to dive in to try and find him and not one person was in that water with him until the police came.
