Disused cruise ships could be used to house asylum seekers, says Home Secretary Suella Braverman
She said the total cost of housing and supporting asylum seekers this financial year would rise to £3.5bn, of which £2.3bn would be spent on hotels.
The home secretary said 117,000 asylum seekers were currently being accommodated - 57,000 by local authorities. She said more than 100,000 asylum seekers are still awaiting a decision, and in some cases have been waiting longer than a year.
