The footprints are laid bare at Yaverland on the Isle of Wight during coastal flood checks.

They were found on the seafront during excavations for sea defencesA set of well-preserved dinosaur footprints have been uncovered on a beach at a seaside resort.

They are thought to belong to a mantellisaurus, a three-toed, seven metre long plant-eating dinosaur. Dr Martin Munt, curator of the Dinosaur Isle Museum in Sandown, said: "The Isle of Wight is the richest dinosaur location in Europe, but this is still a wonderful find.
