Francis was 15 weeks old when he was diagnosed with a rare condition
Francis Oldham, from Walton, was just 15 weeks old when his parents were told his life-changing diagnosis. After coming out with strange marks on his body, mum Anna Holland knew something was wrong.
Now, as they wait and hope for a stem cell match, the family has joined forces with blood cancer charity DKMS to organise a special blood stem cell donor registration event in Bootle. Together, they’re aiming to register new potential donors who could give hope to Francis and other blood cancer patients in need.
Anna said: "The desperation is real. You don’t ever think anything like this will happen to you. Registering is a quick process involving a simple mouth swab, and you could be giving Francis or other patients with blood cancer or blood disorders a second chance of life. So, if you’re aged 17-55 and in general good health, please come on Saturday and get registered with DKMS."
The ECHO previously reported that thousands of people have signed up to become a stem cell donor after an extensive appeal to help the baby boy. Anthony Nolan, a charity that connects patients in need with strangers who donate stem cells, confirmed over 2,000 people joined.
