There are concerns house building funds will not be able to meet demand
West Lothian has gained almost 700 affordable homes since April last year - but concerns have been raised that they still lack the funds to meet a housing demand of almost 10,000.
The quarterly update delivered to the Housing Services Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel highlighted 184 new homes completed by the council to the end of June this year with 34 former council homes bought back as Open Market Acquisitions. She added: “The council’s target is to facilitate the delivery of a minimum 1,621 new affordable homes over the next five years in line with the Local Housing Strategy 2023 - 2028 and the recent Housing Need and Demand Assessment , including 383 additional council homes and a minimum of 1,238 additional homes delivered through Registered Social Landlords.”
