Over 60 fires have ignited across the Mediterranean country in the past 24 hours, as strong winds and temperatures above 40°C helped create the perfect conditions for flames to spread.
The EU has warned of a “very extreme danger” of wildfires across the continent, in countries including Italy, France and Turkey. Meanwhile, a new report from The Met Office revealed that 2022 was the hottest year on record for the UK and warned heatwaves like the one experienced by Brits last summer will be commonplace by 2060.
