David de Gea left Man United upon the expiry of his contract this summer and he's still without a new club.
The Premier League introduced the Golden Glove award in 2004 and it's given to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets.
There was recognition from everyone involved that De Gea wasn't solely responsible, but nonetheless, he still made important saves in multiple games, so it feels bizarre that he's still out of contract after winning the Golden Glove. Kepa failed at Chelsea and you'd be forgiven for not knowing Peretz, who was signed from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Those two attractive options are now off the table and it seems likely that De Gea's future could be in Saudi Arabia.
De Gea is 32 years old, which means he should have only just surpassed his peak as a goalkeeper in comparison - they mature later than outfield players - and it's not a good look that he remains without a club at this stage of the season. De Gea won the Premier League, the FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League during his 12-year stay in Manchester and he was deservedly voted as the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year on four different occasions.
