Catriona Anne Fitzsimmons has been jailed.
Catriona Anne Fitzsimmons was brought to justice after stealing £13,212 from Neil MacKinnon after being granted power of attorney over his affairs and selling his Glasgow flat.
The 61-year-old moved him from the city to the Isle of Lewis after he displayed signs of the condition following the death of his wife. When he deteriorated Fitsimmons moved him into a care home in Stornoway, the Sunday Mail reports.When she failed to pay fees the fraud was discovered. In April former nurse Fitzsimons, who runs an online jewellery business, appeared at Stornoway Sheriff Court and pled guilty to embezzling £13,212 from December 2017 to April 2019.But a source said: "Eighty days is not enough in my book. In most cases, the granting of power of attorney can be a good thing. For others, it can come at a cost that they may never imagine.
