Voters in Rutherglen & Hamilton West will be going to the polls on October 5 after a date was confirmed for Scotland’s first recall by-election.

Ms Ferrier lost her seat after nearly 12,000 voters signed the recall petition triggered by her 30-day suspension from the Commons chamber, after Westminster’s standards committee ruled that she had breached the code of conduct by breaking lockdown rules through travelling to London while awaiting a Covid test and home again after testing positive.
