Glentoran winger says players from England and Scotland want to come to Northern Ireland
Daire O'Connor believes the standard of the Irish League and the opportunity to challenge for honours and play in Europe is a massive carrot for players in England and Scotland now.
The 26-year-old, who spent a season with Cliftonville three years ago before joining Ayr United, said coming to Northern Ireland is now a very real proposition for players from outside the country given how much the league has progressed."From my own experience I went over to Scotland from Cliftonville thinking it was the next big step in my career," he said.
"It's obviously a gradual process, it's not going to become the best league overnight, but it has to be the ambition to compete with the leagues in Scotland, the lower leagues in England and the League of Ireland and be that league players want to go and play in.
