Mark Bleasdale hid his face as he left Liverpool Crown Court
A man who battered a stranger in an alcohol-fuelled late-night brawl hid his face and stuck up his middle finger as he walked free from court.
The violence broke out following a disagreement between some other people in the bar who were not known to any of the men. Mr Burke then came into contact with Cotton, Bleasdale and Abrams and was verbally abused by the three, who called him and his friends "fat c***s".Mr Whittaker then joined Mr Burke and the two opposing groups continued to argue before erupting into a brawl.
In a statement, Mr Whittaker, who suffered a cut ear and a broken jaw, said the attack had left him afraid of going out in the city centre, wary of people and anxious in his day to day life. The manager of the Manhattan Bar, Mr Hassan, described the incident as "horrendous" and "like nothing he had ever seen in nine years running a bar".
Michael O'Brien, defending Bleasdale, said: "There's a more positive side to the character of Mark Bleasdale than that side in the CCTV. He's a family man. He has a four month old child. He's a tradesman, a painter and decorator, and has ambitions to get back into full-time employment.Damian Nolan, defending Cotton, said: "He says himself he has made a series, in the past, of very poor judgements. He has made significant steps to turn his life around.
