Peter Mowbray couldn't walk properly at the start of the year, now he's set to run the London Marathon

For the dad-of-one, from Blackpool, it was a moment that changed his life beyond recognition. One minute, he was waiting on his motorcycle at a junction in his seaside hometown. The next, he'd been hit by a truck, his leg being badly crushed between his own bike and the lorry, which dragged him down the road.

"And I was at a junction in Layton, I was stationary, and a lorry just drove straight through from behind and ripped my pants off which is embarrassing and dragged me down the road. I don't remember a great deal. Despite still being in a lot of pain, Peter was determined, and began training with his son, Chris, who is running the London Marathon for the first time, in memory of his friend who died of pancreatic cancer. He says Chris was his inspiration, and it was through helping him train that he decided he was going to run one last marathon.

Peter says that whilst he is hoping to cross the finish line, he isn't sure if he'll be able to. But the fact that he'll be on the start line with his wife Louise and son Chris is nothing short of a miracle.
