During the emotional six-week trial, prosecutors described Vallow Daybell as a wannabe cultist driven by “money, power and sex” to kill her kids
A Doomsday cult mum' has been jailed for life without parole after killing her two children and her husband’s first wife in a bizarre zombie plot.
On the fifth count, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of Tammy Daybell she was sentenced to life without parole. On the grand theft charge, she was sentenced to five years of prison followed by an indeterminate term of five years for a total of 10 years for the grand theft. He went on to talk about her fleeing to Hawaii, saying she used "blood money" to fund her new life as the police and public searched for her children, who he said were "found mutilated and buried like animals."
"They tried to stop my labour, they put me on the table and they put something in my IV and I felt my spirit falling to the floor."Vallow Daybell said her sister who was stood by her "needed to show" her some things and then they "went to heaven." Vallow Daybell continued: "I have always mourned the loss of my loved ones, and I have lost many in this mortal world. However, I know that more than most people, I know where they are now and what they're doing. I know how wonderful heaven is and I'm homesick for it every single day."
Vallow Daybell said Tylee has "visited" her, and is "happy and very busy", as well as being "free now from all the pains of her life", saying Tylee "suffered physical pain her whole life", and that she was the one who was with her in hospital when the "morphine wasn't" enough. Referring to Tammy Daybell as her "eternal friend", Vallow Daybell also added that she has been "visited" by her husband's former wife. Saying: "She came to bring me peace and comfort... I have a great love for Tammy."
About a month after the children's disappearance, her husband, Chad Daybell's, wife Tammy, 49, died suddenly. Her death was initially not treated as suspicious, however, her body was exhumed and an autopsy revealed she died "at the hands of another" of "asphyxiation". The couple were eventually arrested and charged with murder. During the investigation process, officials found ties to 'doomsday cult' religious beliefs, which the couple are said to have used as justification for killing the young children.
Vallow Daybell’s former friend Melanie Gibb testified during the trial that Vallow Daybell believed people in her life had been taken over by evil spirits and turned into “zombies,” including JJ and Tylee. Ms Woodcock explained that when Charles was killed, Lori waited to tell his sons that this "was the beginning of her cruel campaign of terror.”
"Tammy was beloved. There will be a huge void in our life. This is Tammy's story. She was a mom, a grandma, a niece, a friend, a librarian. More than a librarian, she was a teacher. Her last days went to preparing a bookfair for underserved children." "Tylee and J.J. brought so much light into this world," Ryan said. "My girls will never have a chance to know them."
"We are calculating and assigning a value for the lives of Tylee Ryan, J.J. Vallow and Tammy Daybell," he said, noting that Lori Vallow Daybell "assigned a value of zero." "We ache with the victims in this case. There's a lot of hurt surrounding this case, and not just the direct victims... And that hurt can sometimes manifest as hate.
"There is a lot of confusion and a lot of misunderstanding about how this came to pass, and that's probably not going to change any time soon", Mr Thomas added.Mr Thomas said: "First-degree murder is first-degree murder and conspiracy carries the same punishment."
