Cuadrilla ordered to leave Lancashire fracking site permanently as hard deadline issued
The order was made North Sea Transition Authority and means Cuadrilla now has around 16 months to vacate the site. Fracking is effectively banned in the UK as a result of a decision issued by the government in 2019 but Cuadrilla has remained hopeful of a change in policy.
In a statement to LancsLive, an NSTA spokesperson said: "The NSTA has today issued a Plug and Abandonment notice on the two Preston New Road wells operated by Cuadrilla." The company now has until 30 December 2024 to complete the work" “Cuadrilla has been the bane of our lives for over a decade. The stress and ramifications of their failed fracking attempts will never be forgotten nor forgiven.”
