Repairing the pier is set to cost millions and the council said 'we'll do all we can'
People have called the continued closure of Southport Pier a 'crying shame' as a business owner on the site said it has affected his whole family.
Reacting to the ongoing story, ECHO readers who have fond memories of Southport Pier have lamented its continued closure. On Facebook, Edgar Hellmich said: "Have been visiting Southport for over 40 years and it’s so sad that the Pier is now closed. "How come Blackpool can maintain their piers but Southport can't maintain just one. It has always been part of Southport and people love walking along it."
