You can play Starfield now via Early Access
Starfield is the latest RPG by Bethesda, the developer behind the acclaimed Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, which enthralled gamers with its vast open world setting. Gamers were wowed when gameplay footage of Starfield was first released in June at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase.
Review aggregator site Metacritic has awarded Starfield a high score of 87/100 for Xbox Series X and 88/100 for PC. These are calculated based on 51 and 50 critic reviews respectively. However, it concluded that these aspects were “vastly outweighed” by its “new, original science fiction universe, the breadth of its adventures, and the appeal of its many interwoven stories.”
PC Gamer was less positive. Its review praised Starfield’s combination of structured missions and unpredictable systems which made the game more memorable than similar counterparts. However, it argued it didn’t live up to its “hype and anticipation”, arguing it never felt as engrossing as Skyrim or as wild as Fallout.
