Scarlett and Luke from Exeter were one of the lucky winners of McDonald's Monopoly's £100,000 jackpot
A couple managed to bag themselves a whopping £100,000 prize money after playing McDonald’s Monopoly. Scarlett and Luke, both 26, from Exeter, were shocked to find out they’d won the insane cash prize by eating at the fast food chain.
For anyone not aware of McDonald’s Monopoly, it’s a food-related version of the classic board game, where customers are able to collect game tokens which represent different roads and trains stations. Each of the game pieces can be found stuck to the packaging when qualified McDonald’s menu items are purchased.
Other top prizes available this year included a MINI electric car and a £2,000 TUI holiday. Smaller prizes were also up for grabs, including £200 for passing GO, headphones, laptops, and free McDonald’s food. Scarlett said: “We both sat looking at the phone… and as much as we filled in paperwork and got on the phone to both of our parents, not even finishing our meals because we were so excited, we didn't believe it until it was in our account. We’ve never been successful on Monopoly before, not ever more than the peel off food pieces! It was really quite incredible to see it pop up.”
