Cal Hunter and girlfriend Claire Segeren paid £10,000 for the wrong property after a lot numbers mix-up four years ago - but decided to keep it and renovate it themselves.
A couple who accidentally bought a 120-year-old derelict mansion in Dunoon then transformed the building into holiday apartments have shared a series of stunning before and after pictures.
The foundations needed repaired, a new roof needed to be installed, masonry above a bay window had collapsed and all the timber works inside the 19th century building were rotten. Despite never having renovated before - and with just £10,000 in the bank - the couple ignored expert advice to demolish the house and decided to sustainably bring it back to life instead.
In a post on their whathavewedunoon Instagram page, Claire said: "The first of many before and afters - every time I see what the house looked like when we bought it, next to pictures of what it looks like now, it brings on a wave of emotions. "We put down OSB and managed to pick up a free table that had been destined for a local bonfire . Long before the outdoor kitchen came to be, we cooked in here, had dinners and drinks with friends, and important "board meetings" where we tried to figure out how the *ell we were going to fix this house.
