She has been reprimanded
A senior councillor has been found to have breached her authority’s code of conduct over remarks during a heated committee debate over a planning application from the property arm of Blackburn’s billionaire Issa brothers’ business empire.
“Cllr Haworth should consider her position.” She has defended her remarks and refused to resign her roles as deputy leader of Hyndburn Council, leader of its Tory group and councillor for St Oswalds ward in Oswaldtwistle. “This stinks and needs investigating.” Then Hyndburn principal planning officer Elizabeth Hindle complained about the remarks alleging they breached the council’s Code of Conduct for Members.
“The committee found that * although Cllr Haworth did not name the complainant, her remarks did identify the complainant as the person she was referring to; and * no planning objections were disregarded and that the earlier planning application relating had been determined by the chief planning officer in accordance with the council’s scheme of delegation at the time.
