Dogs could be banned from the popular spot
The Northern Ireland public are being asked for their views on a proposal to ban dogs from a natural beauty spot popular with thousands of people every year.
However they have now moved to public consultation to gauge the mood of locals and visitors over the proposed new law which is proving controversial amongst dog lovers. "The report concluded after extensive enquiries, that there were no grounds for complaint and no justification for a ban. In fact the complainant was asked to produce evidence of reported incidents but did not do so, and accordingly the report concluded that there were no grounds which would justify a Dog Control Order.
"It includes spectacular views of wide bays, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and off-shore rocks and Causeway Coast and Glens Council are the guardians of this world class coastline.. The site states: "It is child friendly, good for walking, hiking, bird watching and it has beach views and plenty of wildlife to watch. This is a beautiful coastal trail where walkers can take in lovely sea views on a clear day.
The Mayor, Councillor Ivor Wallace said: “The proposed Dog Control Order, if implemented, becomes law. It is therefore important that Council is aware of the views of a wide range of people who live in and visit the Borough. This consultation is an opportunity to have your say.”The consultation opened on January 4, and will last for four weeks.
