An east Lancashire council has rubbished claims of a 'personal vendetta' from a council worker against a local butchers after the business was hit with a one-star food hygiene rating.

They said: "This complaint was not upheld, after being subject to the council's formal complaint procedure. The food business operator also lodged an appeal against the food hygiene rating award, this appeal was not upheld, following a review from the lead food safety officer."
