The venue has said it will be 'looking to take this further'
People have said the council is "completely right" to revoke a venue's licence to have outdoor seating after a number of complaints.
“Most of the businesses have been happy to comply, and we are grateful for their cooperation. Unfortunately, Castle Street Townhouse has not been willing to reach a compromise despite receiving a final warning, so we have now served them with a notice revoking their licence with immediate effect.” If they want to use it as an extension of their business that's fine, but they don't get to set the rules for what is and is not acceptable - as our council tax pays for the creation and maintenance of that pavement and it's for our use.
One person said: "Pavements are for people to walk on. They have been created and funded for that purpose. There should not be any chairs and tables on them." Carlson Voort said: "How are they shocked? There was a clear stipulation on their terrace license, and once they had written permission from the bank owner to extend their terrace, all they needed to do was apply for the existing license to be extended to include that.Director of Castle Street Townhouse Bakir said: "The main issue here was the date given by LCC of August 31st for us to organise some additional storage for larger items such as planters and parasols.
