Crowds gathered at Kelvingrove Park last night at the second annual Light The Way event which hopes to brighten the area after dark.
It comes as Glaswegians have been left feeling “unsafe” walking home from work or using the park because of the lack of lights. “We are talking winter 2025 before we see a safe walking route through this park and that is only if Glasgow City Council has the budget, which we know is currently extremely tight.
“Glasgow is this beautiful green palace or so we keep getting told but after 4pm in the winter evening, it becomes absolutely unusable which is unfair. A spokesman said: “There has been considerable debate and engagement on this issue over the past year as we have sought to balance concerns on safety and the impact of lighting on biodiversity.
