ITV Corrie star on breaking down barriers in new BBC drama Ralph and Katie
It was a night of celebration as The Royal Television Society North West marked 100 years of the BBC at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry, by shining a spotlight on the broadcaster's groundbreaking new comedy drama Ralph and Katie. Ralph and Katie, which launched last week on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, is a spin-off of The A Word, which followed a young boy with austim.

He said: “It proves that the barriers we’ve seen as immovable are actually just made up. We’ve found different, more inclusive ways to work on this drama that can challenge the TV and film industry on a whole."
Matt, who played bullied pupil Martin Dunbar in the Rochdale-based BBC school drama Waterloo Road and a fellow patient in a pivotal scene when Freddie Mercury had just been diagnosed as HIV positive in the 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody, reprises his role of Tom Clarke who he played in The A Word.
