Coronation Street star Chris Fountain says 'life can change' in stroke update as he tells fans it's been 'weird'
Former Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has shared a moving message with his fans as he marked a year since suffering a stroke. The actor suffered a mini-stroke in August last year, aged 35, and spent five days in a London hospital after waking up at home unable to speak properly.
He also filmed a short clip as he reflected on his progress over the year in which he said: "It's kind of been a weird thing to wrap my head around. Part of me is worrying thinking 'am I going to have another one today'. But then part of me is also super proud of how I've recovered. My speech is pretty much back to normal, I've run a marathon, I'm fit again.
It was announced in 2011 that Chris, who is also recognised for his time in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, would be reprising the character with his return coinciding with the departure of actor William Tarmey as Jack.
