Police officers who responded to a home burglary went above and beyond their call of duty by replacing Christmas gifts that were stolen by a ‘true life Grinch’.
Cops on Christmas Eve went to the scene of a breaking and entering complaint at a home in South Bend, Indiana.
‘After talking to the homeowner, officers learned that Christmas gifts had been taken, leaving the children with nothing for the holidays,’ wrote the South Bend Police Department onThe officers got in touch with the FOP Lodge #36 Santa’s Elficers program and found they had leftover gifts they could pick up.‘Officers then came back to the residence with several boxes of Christmas presents and food for the family,’ the police department stated. ‘This is what serving our community is all about.
A video posted by the police department shows the moment that children at the burglarizes home discovered brand new presents surrounding their Christmas tree. The new gifts included a bicycle, dolls and various board games and toys.‘You’re welcome,’ one of the four police officers says.The mother, holding a third child, tells her young ones: ‘You got your stuff back. Say thank you.
The police officers didn’t stop there. They later brought food for the family, according to Storyful.
