'My mistake, it’s been a long few days'
A Nottinghamshire MP has blamed a "long few days" for forgetting the name of the current prime minister and confusing Liz Truss with one of the her predecessors - Theresa May. Lee Anderson, Conservative MP for Ashfield, went ahead to praise the prime minister in an interview following Ms Truss' party conference speech in Birmingham.
“I think we’ve made the right decision in the end to vote for her," he added. “We had Brexit, we had Boris, we had Corbyn three years ago and now we’ve got Theresa May it’s a different ball game altogether."The gaff was flagged by interviewer Harry Horton of ITV, who reminded him that the prime minister is now in fact Ms Truss. Anderson apologised for the gaff, adding: “My mistake, it’s been a long few days.
