Some appear to have just been 'ignored'

A Nottinghamshire councillor says his town has been plagued with more potholes than ever before and that it's causing people to avoid the town centre. Councillor Richard MacRae, Independent councillor for Stapleford North on Broxtowe Borough Council, has shared his concerns after noticing more and more potholes appearing across Stapleford, saying many have been ignored and others poorly repaired.

Councillor MacRae said that when officials from the county council were repairing potholes in the town he felt that they were never done properly. He said: "It's not just the state of the roads, but the state of the repairs. Every main road going in and out of Stapleford is really bad, and that's the responsibility of the county council.

He said: "The roads don't need repaving they need relaying. We want people to come to Stapleford and spend money in our town and visit our great independent businesses, but people are not going to do that. They need to fix the roads, not just bodge it up." Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment on the county council, said: “We know that potholes and road repairs are one of the biggest concerns of our residents and that is why we set up our cross-party Highways Review Panel in May 2021.
