Joe Cole has explained just how important the Germany game is for Gareth Southgate and this England squad.

England fell to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Italy at the San Siro to relegate them from their Nations League group.

Southgate’s side have desperately struggled for creativity, despite the wealth of options at his disposal. The last time England faced Germany was back in June and they played out a 1-1 draw, with Harry Kane scoring a late penalty to level the game.
