You’ll get £25, from the Governemnt, for each 7 day period of very cold weather
As temperatures plummet many are turning their attention to how they might be able to afford the heating as the cost of living continues to soar. And for some people, this means they will be eligible to a little extra help.
You’ll get £25, from the Government, for each seven-day period of very cold weather between November 1 and March 31. You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days. Cold Weather Payments do not affect your other benefits and do not need to be applied for. These will be automatically paid to people who qualify.When will you get the payment? You should get the payment within 14 working days, after each seven-day period of very cold weather. These payments are made into the same bank or building society as your usual benefit payment.
