Fire crews were quickly on the scene
Occupants of a car had a lucky escape when their vehicle burst into flames. A shocking picture of the incident which took place on the Nottinghamshire border shows the car gutted by the fire.
Firefighters from the Stapleford Fire Station were called to the incident on Hart Avenue, in Sandiacre, last weekend . , said the emergency service. It was a "close call" for the occupants of the vehicle, said Stapleford Fire Station in a social media post. They also released photos from the scene of the incident adding: "Last weekend, as we returned to our station following another incident. We were mobilised to a report of a car on fire, on Hart Avenue Sandiacre."Arriving we found the vehicle on fire, the occupants had a close call as they escaped just as the flames took hold.
The service said a number of "bangs" were heard as the fuel tank caught on fire Firefighters wore breathing apparatus sets and used high pressure hose reel jets to stop the blaze.
