It's nearly a year since Russia invaded Ukraine

Nottingham City Council has secured more than £400,000 of funding for the education of Ukrainian refugees. The Government grant is to be used for the teaching and childcare of children aged two to 18 who entered the UK between March 1 and August 31 last year.

The Homes for Ukraine scheme, launched in March 2022 by the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities , offers British families the chance to house Ukrainians fleeing the ongoing conflict. The funding of £428,146 is to be used to secure a place for a child, cover transport costs, provision of uniform and fund meals for the child while they are in a school or childcare setting.

Just before Christmas, Nottingham City Council confirmed that of the country. As of December 1, 2022, 1,707 people in 1,201 groups have been hosted by 786 sponsors under the scheme.The Homes for Ukraine scheme gives the opportunity for Ukrainians to live and work in the UK for up to three years and access to benefits and healthcare.

The annual allocation of funding for a child in each phase of education is £3,000 for pupils aged two to four, £6,580 for primary pupils aged five to 11 and £8,755 for secondary pupils aged 11 to 18.
