Holly Brailsford plans for the big day all year round
With summer still in full swing, the mere thought of Christmas is yet to enter most of our minds – except for one mum.
“In the first Sunday of October when I was growing up we’d have Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and Christmas music,” Holly, 38, explains. “People would ring the house and ask, ‘Why can I hear Slade playing in the background?’ In a bid to keep present costs down, the mum says she “keeps an ear out” all year for products that her friends and family mention they would like.
She also advises others to get thrifty when it comes to buying kids toys. The mum says charity shops often have barely used toys and gadgets that can make great presents for children at discounted prices. Holly and husband Ryan say it's the ELR Santa steam train that really gets her son Oscar, three, excited about Christmas. Holly explained that seeing her train-loving son interact with the entertainers is a particularly special moment for the family.
