The American gaming prodigy, 20 resolved his legal dispute with two top rivals outside of court after a row over allegedly defamatory statements made against him.
Niemann sued Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, currently the world’s top-ranked chess player, and another highly-ranked player, Hikaru Nakamura last year.
He added that he’d be happy to play a game of chess while naked: ‘They want me to strip fully naked? I’ll do it. I don’t care because I know that I’m clean and I’m willing to subject myself to what you want me to play.’ The scandal rocked the chess world, and rumors quickly spread, with many speculating on exactly how Niemann might have cheated in the prestigious match.
Shortly after the 2022 spat, Chess.com banned Niemann and later published a report saying he had likely cheated more than 100 times in online games.
