Chelsea Quickly Respond To ‘official Bid’ From West Ham As Moyes Looks To Spend £40m Of Rice Fund25 Jul 2023 6:45 AMWest Ham United have made an opening offer to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to reports.reported on Monday that David Moyes’ side made a bid worth close to £40million, but decided to put this behind a paywall in an article about Davinson Sanchez potentially leaving Tottenham for Spartak Moscow.
The Italian journalist wrote: “West Ham have submitted official bid for Conor Gallagher. Proposal in the region of £40m.This was then backed up bySteinberg said it was worth “£37m plus add-ons” and later revealed “Chelsea rejected the offer and want more”.Negotiations may have started and ended right there, though, as West Ham are “not willing to go higher”. That was fun while it lasted.
The Blues are reluctant to keep hold of players who are in the final two years of their contract and with the England midfielder’s deal expiring in 2025, they are willing to sell.The Argentine head coach has lost Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante, meaning his only first-team central midfielders are Enzo Fernandez, Andrey Santos, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gallagher, who have a combined 77 Premier League appearances for the club.
The Blues are also looking to sign a player who can operate as an attacking midfielder and right-sided midfielder/winger.
