Football Insider understands that the Premier League is planning to change its financial regulations to stamp out a loophole exploited by Chelsea.

The Premier League is planning to change its Financial Fair Play rules to cancel a loophole exploited by Chelsea,The Blues have handed out long-term contracts to new signings in order to spread out the cost of their transfer fee over multiple years.

The Ecuadorian became the 22nd player in Chelsea’s squad to sign a contract longer than five years at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are currently unaffected by Uefa’s ruling after failing to qualify for Europe this season, but a return to European competition would see them have to abide by the five-year cap.
