The JP Summer Fundraiser, an initiative set up by mum-of-three Louise Keegan, supported young people stage their own fundraisers over the school holidays
Three Dalbeattie charities have been gifted more than £2,500 – thanks to big-hearted local kids under a new volunteering programme.All activities were child-led with adults mentoring the Dalbeattie High School pupils and helping with jobs such as hall bookings and cash handling.
Fellow young leader Emma Henderson made another £200 through a sponsored toddle with the nursery children. And sisters Mirren and Emily McWilliams bagged £573.70 for the Alma Comfort Fund for residents at the Alma McFadyen Care Centre through a series of fundraisers, taking the overall total to an incredible £2578.70.“They have done an amazing job and pushed themselves so hard to achieve these fabulous amounts of money.“It’s such a nice feeling to know that because you put in that effort, somebody somewhere will benefit greatly.
“The community spirit in my home town is something I’m very proud of and it shows through in things like this.All three charities paid tribute publicly to the young fundraising volunteers.“You did all the children of Little Inspirations proud.Michelle Stitt of the Alma Comfort Fund said: “Thank you so much everyone – what a great effort.Amanda Macaulay of Dalbeattie Community First responders added: “That is absolutely fantastic Maiya.“Many thanks for all your hard work.
