Torino and Club Brugge are among the clubs interested in the young striker who is attracting admiring glances.
Record Sport reported on Wednesday a significant bid had been tabled for the Hoops rising star. The Scottish champions don’t want to lose Vata and it is unlikely the Republic of Ireland youth cap will be allowed to leave in this window.
The offer was tabled yesterday on behalf of a club but has been knocked back. Torino and Club Brugge are among the European clubs who are keen on the talented 18-year-old, with Vata in the final year of his contract. Celtic now run the risk of losing him for training compensation. Vata can sign a pre-contract in January and if he moves cross-border or overseas, it would be at a much reduced fee. The youngster is frustrated by his lack of first-team progress.
Meanwhile, Celtic and Liverpool have agreed a Nat Phillips loan until January, although there is scope to extend if all parties are in agreement. The centre-back is in Glasgow to finalise a move. Another deal close to being announced is a further loan – this time in the shape of Portuguese sensation Paulo Bernardo. Celtic are also desperately trying to land a left-back and could even sign a striker before Friday’s deadline although that is less likely.
