Police believe the woman was 'followed from a bank and specifically targeted'

Police have released a CCTV picture of two people they want to speak to after an elderly woman had £400 in cash snatched from her handbag in a 'distraction theft' in Oldham.

The victim had drawn the cash out from a local bank, placed it in an envelope and then into her bag. Police believe she was then followed to a local shop. She was 'specifically targeted' by a man and woman who approached her as she waited in a queue and then 'distracted' her. Once the woman got to the checkout, she realised her cash had gone.Officers now want to speak to the man and woman pictured in the CCTV photo about the incident. Anyone who recognises them is being urged to get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting log number 001941-26042023. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity - Crimestoppers - on 0800 555 111.Read more of today's top stories here
