Iker Casillas has claimed his Twitter account was hacked after the former goalkeeper appeared to come out as gay.and Spain legend wrote a short post on the social media platform on Sunday afternoon, but it was then deleted.Casillas had an illustrious career on the pitch and is regarded as Real Madrid’s greatest ever goalkeeperIt read: “I hope you respect me: I’m gay.”
The tweet was live for more than an hour before it was then deleted, with the retired star later saying his account had been hacked.He wrote: “Hacked account. Luckily everything in order. Apologies to all my followers. And of course, more apologies to the LGBT community.
Posting before Casillas claimed his account was hacked, the 22-year-old wrote: “@IkerCasillas and @Carles5puyol joking and making fun out of coming out in football is disappointing.Casillas, who played 725 times for Real and won the World Cup with Spain, bid a teary farewell to football in 2020 following a heart attack
“Whatever their intent, our words matter. At Stonewall, we’ll continue to fight for a better world where LGBTQ+ people can play the sports we love as ourselves.”
