CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES could approach the United Nation international court of justice for legal advice about reparations for slavery.
“I’m disappointed to see that Sunak, who ought to, given his origins, have a greater sensitivity to this question of the past,” Mr Gonsalves told the newspaper. Mr Gonsalves, who was at the summit, said reparations is not just about financial compensation, but also about recognising the legacy of slavery and colonisation and how it has impacted economics, public health and the cultural heritage of those in the Caribbean and Latin America.
