The small village of Barrow near Whalley is being 'ruined' by developments with one resident fearing it's only a matter of time before a child is killed on the main road
Plans to build a 66-bedroom care home in a Ribble Valley village have been approved despite residents' concerns it will cause "yet more chaos" on the main road.
The plans also involve building three new houses following the demolition of 23-25 Old Row, including the former Taverna restaurant, and while the removal of the "dilapidated eyesore" has been welcomed by residents they fear the new care home will cause chaos on the already busy main road. One resident, who objected to the plans, stated: "Surely Whalley and Clitheroe already have adequate care home facilities? This will cause yet more chaos on a busy main road through the village.
Planning permission for a housing development on the site had already been approved but construction failed to begin. In granting permission Ribble Valley Borough Council attached a series of conditions. The care home will be split over two levels and the development will include 25 parking spaces. All bedrooms will have views of the surrounding gardens.
