It's estimated that one in three adults in the UK experience high blood pressure, also known as hypertension.

Cardiologist Dr Ernst von Schwarz, author of The Secrets of Immortality, told Parade: "The worst thing someone can do if they have high blood pressure is not take high blood pressure seriously enough. People might say, 'It doesn't hurt, so why should I care?'. Keeping on top of your blood pressure can be done by getting checked at the GP or by purchasing a blood pressure cuff so that you can do it at home. And regular monitoring can also be a helpful tool for doctors to assess which doses of medication are needed.
