The operator says funding will have to be justified given the 'small number of passengers'
Campaigners fighting against changes to a "lifeline" Nottingham bus service say they feel optimistic after a recent meeting with the operator. A petition with almost 200 signatures was created opposing major alterations to a service which sees buses running from Sherwood through Mapperley, Arnold and Bestwood.
But some of those living in the Sherwood Vale area said the number 19 service should instead run four days a week on mornings only, instead of two full-day services. That idea was discussed at a meeting between CT4N and residents on Monday .Christine Alton, 76, one of those fighting against the changes, said: "We discussed running the service on four mornings instead of two full days. [CT4N] said it was a good idea and that it was going to be put forward.
If current plans were to go ahead, the alternative would be for Sherwood Vale residents using the 19 route to use Nottingham City Transport's number 40 service instead. But the bus stops for this service entail a walk of 400 metres from Sherwood Vale, rather than the current situation of residents being able to catch a bus almost outside their front door.
