It comes after the government’s approval of the A303 dual carriageway near the World Heritage Site.
Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site successfully challenged approval of the scheme in 2021
They added that UNESCO had asked the Government not to approve the scheme ahead of its World Heritage Committee meeting in September. The A303 is a congestion hotspot, with drivers heading to and from the South West during peak holiday periods often stuck in long queues on the single carriageway stretch near the stones.
